Badger Hair Knots

The Golden Nib is proud to offer you the largest & fineset selection of shaving brush knots. Now you can make the perfect brush for you or your client or refurbish your favorite old brush. There is no set presise grading for badger hair. Our knots are manufactured by several companies to our specs using 100% badger hair with no fillers. The Softness grade is relative to opinion, but 1 is the softess and 5 is the least softess where noted.

Due to the large selection, we have recently catergorized our knots into several sections.

Silvertip Badger Hair Knots- Chinese origin, most knots pack with extra hair where noted, for a fuller firmer knot. New UK Silvertip knots have been added in limited supply, these are the premier handmade top of the line manufactured in the UK. All silvertips knots are NOT machined trimmed, but hand packed. A new GRADE A silvertip badger hair knot has been added. This is a premium silvertip knot, nicely packed with whiter softer tips than our normal silvertip knots with extra hair. Available in 18mm , 20mm 22mm & 24mm.

Finest and Best Badger Hair Knots- Two band Finest badger hair knots,  dark color stem with creamy tips, nicely packed in several sizes. Just added Two band Finesest badger knot with extra hair & Fan shape fineswt badger knot in 20mm & 22mm.

Super badger Hair Knots- New Chinese and UK knots in Super Badger hair. Super badger hair is treated silvertip tip hair, that softens and whitens the tips. Both the Chinese and UK are fan shaped knots. All super badger hair knots are nicely packed with very soft tips.

Other Knots- This is a selection of Pure badger, Black Badger, Boar bristles, & synthetic nylon knots. Both in Chinese origin and newly added UK knots.

Measurements-  Just a word on knot measurements. PLUG size generally runs about 1mm less than the description size + or - .5mm, so a 22mm knot can have a plug size of 20.5mm to 21.5mm. Knots with extra hair, will generally be a touch WIDER above the plug, do to the extra packing of hair. So using a 22mm knot with extra hair the bulge of hair above the plug may be 23mm. The height of the plug is about 8mm in general. The LOFT is the measurment of from the bottom of the base plug to the tips measured in mm.  I wish the measurments were more exacting, but we are dealing with hand made natuaral hair items.
